Speaking Task 1: Giving Advice
136 words and phrases, grouped by the part of the answer you need them for. Open a word to see what it means, a sentence using it, and how to use it here.
Starting your answer
7Say the person's name, then show you understood the problem. Every one of these questions hands you a person and a situation. Saying them back in your own words gives you a first sentence you never have to invent, and it buys you a few seconds to think. For example: “Hi Daniel, I can see why the early shifts are wearing you down.” Use only what the question gives you. If it does not say the person is worried, do not tell them they are.
