You’re 1 level short in Writing.

Listening, Reading and Speaking already meet the minimum. Writing is the only gap — reach CELPIP 7 to clear it.

Your result

What does your CELPIP and CLB result mean?

Your result shows whether each CELPIP ability reaches the language minimum you selected. Immigration programs check Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking separately, so one strong ability cannot make up for another that is below the minimum.

  1. 1
Read each ability on its own.

“Met” means that ability is at or above the selected language minimum. “Not used” means the selected goal does not assess it.

  2. 2
    Start with the largest gap.

The result highlights the ability furthest below its target. Improving that ability first gives you the clearest next study goal.

  3. 3
Protect the levels you already meet.

Keep practising your stronger abilities while you work on the gap, then use a timed mock to check all four together.

Official equivalency

What CLB is your CELPIP score?

CELPIP-General levels 3 through 12 map directly to the same numbered Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB). CELPIP level 2 covers CLB 1 to 2, while levels 1 and 0 do not have a CLB equivalency on the official chart.

What CELPIP level does each goal require?

The required CELPIP level depends on the program and, for the Canadian Experience Class, your occupation’s TEER category. The table shows the language minimums this calculator can compare, not every requirement for the program or application.

Your next step

How should you use your target CELPIP level?

Turn the highlighted gap into one specific study target, then practise under test-like conditions. A focused plan is easier to follow than trying to raise every score at once.

  1. 1
Choose the ability the calculator highlights.

Practise Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking on HelloCelpip, depending on your result.

  2. 2
Use feedback to find the smaller problem.

Look for the task, question type, or rated dimension that is holding the ability back. Work on that before repeating a full section.

  3. 3
Check the full pattern under time pressure.

Take a timed CELPIP mock when the target feels steady, then return to the calculator with your new four-skill pattern.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What CLB is CELPIP 7?
A CELPIP level 7 corresponds to CLB 7 in Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking.
Is a CELPIP score the same as a CLB level?
They are different systems, but CELPIP-General levels from 3 through 12 map directly to the same numbered CLB level. Low proficiency results cover a CLB range rather than one exact level.
What CELPIP score do I need for permanent residence?
It depends on the immigration program and, for Canadian Experience Class, the occupation’s TEER category. This calculator compares your four abilities with the supported language minimum you select.
Are CELPIP scores averaged for immigration?
No. Each required language ability is checked separately. A higher score in one ability does not make up for a score below the minimum in another ability.
Why are Reading and Writing not assessed for the citizenship check?
The citizenship language requirement covered here assesses speaking and listening. The calculator still converts all four entered scores, but marks Reading and Writing as not assessed for that selected goal.
Does meeting the language minimum mean I am eligible?
No. Language is only one part of an immigration program or citizenship application. This tool does not calculate CRS points or assess your complete eligibility.
